The Nagpur police's crime branch has taken decisive action against thieves and burglars, successfully resolving nine cases through two operations. This has brought relief to the citizens as the police intensify efforts to combat vehicle thefts and burglaries, which have been a growing concern. In the first operation, two burglars were captured and seven cases were solved. One recent incident involved a burglary at Mukesh Nipani's residence in Vaishali Nagar where cash and valuables worth Rs6.54 lakh were stolen. The police investigation, aided by CCTV footage, led to the arrest of the suspects Ramakant alias Rambhau Shahu (27) and Narendra alias Bali Bokde (23). These individuals confessed to their involvement in three burglaries and four vehicle thefts, leading to the recovery of stolen items and three vehicles worth Rs9.53 lakh. The accused are known substance abusers who engage in criminal activities to support their addictions. Ramakant is also wanted in connection with two burglary cases at Kalamna police station. In a separate incident, three individuals were arrested by crime branch unit 5 for two cases of vehicle thefts. The police made these arrests based on CCTV footage and intelligence gathered on the ground.Two stolen vehicles worth a total of Rs1.20 lakh have been recovered, along with the bike used in the crime. The majority of vehicle thefts are reported in busy or market areas of the city, while most burglaries occur on the outskirts, within the jurisdictions of police stations like Hudkeshwar, Wathoda, Pratap Nagar, and others. Locals are calling for increased night patrolling by the police to prevent such incidents. Residents are advised to inform neighbors and their local police stations if they plan to leave the city, so that both law enforcement and neighbors can keep a watchful eye on their homes.
